Profiles In Dining- Carnival Horizon

Carnival Cruise Lines is one of the most popular cruise lines on the ocean. And for good reason. When it comes to dining options, Carnival doesn’t skimp. As is our practice, we are only going to feature specialty/non-included dining options. But because Carnival has so many amazing dining options, we’re going to give some honorable mentions for restaurants onboard the Carnival Horizon.

Honorable Mention

Guy’s Burger Joint

First on the list of honorable mention is Guy’s Burger Joint. There’s only one way to describe Guy’s Burger Joint. “INSANE!” How they are able to produce so many burgers and keep the flavor quality so high must be a classified secret.

Pro Tip: Don’t go here on embarkation day. This place is so popular that you will be waiting a long time to get your burger. However, if you brave the line, you will be rewarded with perhaps the best burger you’ve ever experienced.

BlueIguana Cantina

BlueIguana Cantina takes our second spot in the honorable mention category. If you’ve got a taste for authentic Mexcian food, this is where you should be. It’s open for breakfast and lunch. Everything from homemade tortillas used for tacos and burritos to fresh-made salsa is available.

Seafood Shack

Much like Guy’s Burger Joint, the Seafood Shack is yet another food spot unique to Carnival Cruise Lines. Whether you’re in the mood for shrimp, crab or lobster this casual seafood place is also not included in the cost of your cruise. But it should definitely be on your list for lunch or dinner. And if you can’t get to New England for a proper lobster roll, this is the place you should try one.

Carnival Horizon Dining Profile

We broke protocol in telling you about Guy’s Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina because, well, they’re awesome. Now we’re back to why you came. Here are the specialty restaurants we think you should make sure to visit when cruising on the Carnival Horizon.

Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse

We failed to mention that they “Guy” in Guy’s Burger Joint is none other than Guy Fieri of Food Network fame. In addition to the Burger Joint, he also has Pig & Anchor Smokehouse. Specializing in all the traditional smoked meat you’d expect in a BBQ joint – baby back ribs, brisket, chicken, even salmon – is only the start. Any good BBQ restaurant worth its salt is going to have sauces. And wash it all down with beer from a brewmaster onboard.

Cucino Del Capitano

It’s almost expected that a cruise ship will have an Italian restaurant onboard. The Carnival Horizon honors that tradition but goes a step further. Not only does Cucino Del Captinao have the usual suspects on an Italian menu, but they even serve family-style. If you’ve been to a family-style Italian restaurant on land, you know what to expect.

Pro Tip: Since this is a specialty restaurant, it’s not included in the cost of your cruise. However, unlike most specialty restaurants it’s not necessary to make reservations. Nonetheless, it’s recommended that you do make reservations so you don’t have to wait.

Bonsai Sushi

Bonsai Sushi has a warm, serene atmosphere that is ideal for enjoying sushi and sashimi. Because it’s sit-down service, you can enjoy your sushi next to your bonsai tree situated in the middle of the table.

Premium cuts of beef cook to your specifications. An extensive wine list. A delectable selection of seafood. All things one desires at a fine American Steakhouse. And this is exactly what the Steakhouse on-board the Horizon delivers. And the elegant surroundings make it an ideal place to celebrate an anniversary. Or perhaps propose?

Pro Tip: Make a reservation. And do it online before you board the ship.

JiJi Asian Kitchen

Sometimes you don’t want something as elegant as the Steakhouse. Maybe you’re in the mood for good casual food. Head on over to JiJi Asian Kitchen. You can get traditional casual Asian fare and even more adventurous items. It’s not necessary to make reservations. But doing so will ensure you will get the best seating.

Bonsai Teppanyaki

Bonsai Teppanyaki is the perfect place to eat if you have a group. Your entertaining chef will prepare a selection of fish, filet mignon, lobster right at your table. If you’ve never been to a Teppanyaki restaurant, this is an experience Food flips, the chef makes jokes and the food is incredible. If you’re with a very large group, remember that the table only seats 16.
