We’re excited to bring you a new feature you’re going to love called Profiles In Dining. We’re kicking this series off with the Norwegian Gem.
Each Tuesday, we will feature dining on a different cruise ship from different cruise lines. Profiles In Dining will expose you to the specialty restaurants offered by different cruise lines. It’s highly unlikely that you will ever board a cruise ship and not like the main dining room. For that reason, we will focus on specialty dining.
One thing you will learn about NCL is that when it comes to dining variety, there’s no shortage. The Norwegian Gem has 7 specialty restaurants. Remember, these restaurants are not included in the price of your cruise. However, after you book your trip, you can add the Dining Package.
Cruise Tip: Don’t wait until you board the ship to add the Dining Package. Doing it before your sailing gets you a discount on the Dining Package.
Situated on Deck 13 with breathtaking views particularly at sunset, Moderno offers everything you want in a Brazilian Steakhouse. Pasadores greet you with skewers lined with slow-roasted meats. Think bacon-wrapped chicken, pork, lamb, grilled pineapples – the list goes on.
We’d be doing you a disservice not to mention the salad bar. A variety of cheeses, cold salads ranging from pasta to potato and everything you need to create a salad the size of Vesuvius is spread before you.
Who would expect in the middle of the ocean you could find an authentic sushi and sashimi bar. So if you’re in the mood for traditional Japanese cuisine, make your way to Desk 7.
Think of just about any Italian dish you enjoy and you’ll likely be able to find it at La Cucina. Start with shrimp fettuccine or osso buco and finish the meal with affogato. Spaghetti or chicken parmesan is also available if that is more to your liking. If it’s Italian, they’ll likely have it. The elegant atmosphere of this restaurant on Desk 12 makes it a perfect restaurant to celebrate an anniversary or other special occasion.
The Atrium Café is the place to go to get your caffeine fix satisfied. Be it coffee, tea, espressos or cappuccinos, relax with a cookie or pastry while you nurse your drink.
Cagney’s everything you’d expect an American Steakhouse to be. Order Cagney’s Parmesan truffle fries followed up with a perfectly cooked premium Angus steak. Don’t forget to order a cocktail to enjoy along with your appetizer. Cagney’s is located on Deck 13, right across from Moderno.
Le Bistro is NCL’s French restaurant. Le Bistro doesn’t “claim” to serve French food. It “does” serve authentic French food. Be sure to order the mushroom soup and the duck salad in waffle cones. Adding the beef bourguignon will ensure your dining experience will be one to remember. Make your way to Deck 6 and order a bottle of wine with your meal.
Talk about dinner and a show, you get both with the Japanese Hibachi restaurant Teppanyaki. This restaurant is best enjoyed with a group. Chairs are positioned around the Hibachi table so everyone gets a good view of the chef artfully prepare your food.
